The BBC Black Business Council was founded in 1996 by various black leaders, most of who were involved in various black business and professional formations such as:

Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants of South Africa (ABASA)
Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP)
African Mineral and Energy Forum (AMEF)
Black Business Executive Circle (BBEC)
Black Information Technology Forum (BITF)
Black Lawyers Association (BLA)
Black Management Forum (BMF)
Congress of Business and Economics (CBE)
FABCOS
National African Chamber of Commerce (NAFCOC)
National Black Business Caucus (NBBC)
South African Black Technical and Allied Careers Organisation (SABTACO)
South African Communications Forum (SACF)
South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners (SAIBPP)

The key objective of the BBC Black Business Council is to play a central role in key national economic initiatives!

The organisational structure of the BBC Black Business Council is as follows:

COUNCIL:
Made up from three members from each member organisation

CHAMBER:
Consist of the Presidents of each member organisation including BBC office bearers (President; Deputy President; Chairperson; Treasurer and Executive Director)

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE:
Made up from one representative from each member organisation

SECRETARIAT:
Headed by Executive Director
