KRUGERSDORP CITY HALL – 12 MARCH 2013

On 12 March, 2013, I revisited the tarnished Market Hall, situated in the Krugersdorp City Hall, temporarily used by SASSA - Department of Social Development South Africa,  for the re-registration of grant beneficiaries - see:

A fresh clean smell welcomed one into the once dark, filthy, smelly toilets that had now received a transformation!
Lights were fixed or replaced, the toilets were unblocked, clean and flushing, wash-hand basins had running water, the walls and floors were spring-cleaned.

Unbelievable!

Although there was no toilet paper, the clean environment almost justified the lack thereof.

A week ago the floor in the Market Hall was in desperate need of a mop and disinfectant, this floor had now been cleaned and featured spotless.

The 'fountain' is still being used as a dump-site due to lack of rubbish bins.

What a difference this clean environment has made, this so evident from the improved moral and attitude of the SASSA staff who have been using these facilities since the beginning of March, re-registering some 250 social grant recipients daily.

Thank you to Krugersdorp Local Government for this turnaround!

Subject: MOGALE CITY - KRUGERSDORP CITY HALL

Dear Me. MOKEBE,
I have just returned from the Krugersdorp City Hall, from a follow-up regarding the facilities available to the beneficiaries of the social grant re-registration.
Thank you - the floor of the Market Hall was clean - the toilets useable, the lights were fixed and you can see that both the Gents and the Ladies toilets had been 'spring-cleaned' - sadly no toilet paper.
The fountain in the Market Hall was still being used for rubbish due to lack of bins.
Once again thank you for delivering on your promise to "strive to address the matter urgently"
Peter METCALFE
