Greetings Peter
I thought of you when I read in my diary -
"There are some years that ask questions and some that answer"
May this be a year that answers.
Thank you for your comment about the response to the Tsunami Disaster.
I heartily endorse what you said. How often the "authorities" are the
least effective and I feel this is because the personnel is not given
ownership of the initiative - just told what to do.
Thank you for keeping me in the loop of your communications - I enjoy
receiving mail from you and always keep my eyes open in case I notice a
way in which we can support one another's efforts.
All the best, Peter

Dear Peter,
Comments to TSUNAMI DISASTER, CS is a critical link
In the case of Tsunami disaster the international CSOs were faster than Governments’ response but more work has to be done in enhancing the moral behaviour of individuals on the ground in handling the grants and donations as well as stopping the criminals to benefit from the tragedy.
CSOs will have to expose and exemplary punish the criminal elements who are taking children and women victims of Tsunami hostage or are using them like sexual slaves.
Discipline and non selfishness, hard work and compassion the ASIA people will need more than money and food.

Civil society in its respective place and responsibility is accountable
itself and more so to others in need elsewhere in the world. My concern
is that too often do we act only when the damage has already been done
even if warnings are given. Even if TSUNAMI IS SUPPOSINGLY A NATURAL
DESASTER I strongly believe that we could have done more we listen,
assess, respect and act on valid opinion and also share it with related
and interested international organizations.
Now that the damage has been done it is our responsibility to unite our
efforts reaching out to one another and also accept the fact that we all
need each other in one way or the other. If it is going to cost a bigger
disaster to bring the world together I am sure the Creator will do us
that favour.
I mourn with those who have lost their loved ones pray that God may
strengthen and comfort them during this time.

Hi Peter
I would like to send my condolences to the people who lost there relatives due to this unexpected event and also I would like to thank people who are donating cash and kind to the people of tsunami disaster. May the good Lord give them more blessings and also I would like ask people who are able to adopt the orphans to do so.
I am sure these are the signs of the world, which is coming to an end. (Jesus is about to come according to the bible) You remember in Florida and other parts of America there were hurricans which were coming one after another, there were swams of locust which were reported in northern Africa. If the Americans had no prewarning technology of the coming hurricans I think so many people were going to loose their lives.
People should know that there is a living God who controls nature. There is no human inteligence which can stop the natural disasters only the creater himself can.
My contribution to the people of tsunami disaster is "I am praying for you".
Warm regards

Thanks, Peter, for this item on the tsunami.
Fyi, my wife, Margaret, and I are currently in the US on leave. She has been working this past week
with other World Vision folks on their response organizationally to the
disaster.
Already over $50 million has been raised by WV for investment
in Asia, accompanied with a commitment for longer term involvement over at
least the next three years (economic as well as other forms of recovery
activities, going beyond short-term relief, will be the focus).
