AFRICA DIASPORA YOUTH FORUM - ADYF
“The state of Africa is a scar on the conscience of the world. But if the world as a community focused on it, we could heal it”.
These word inspired the Africa Diaspora Youth Forum to Mobilise Young Africans in the Diaspora to Focus on the State of Africa and Africans and Contribute our Quota to Healing it.
The Africa Diaspora Youth Forum, ADYF, is the Premier Organization for Young Africans in the Diaspora with its Headquarters based in the UK. Diaspora Organization established, developed and managed by Young People for Young People.
ADYF has been involved in promoting the voice of young Africans in Africa and it's Diaspora and we are primarily focused on Engaging Young Africans
in Diaspora in Africa's Social, Economic and Political Development. Since establishment of ADYF, We have been in the forefront of promoting Good
Governance and Better Leadership in Africa and we believe that to promote better Leadership, we need to Engage Young Africans who are the future of
Africa.
ADYF is organizing the 1st Mega International Summer School for Young
Activist in Nigeria in July 2006.
Objectives of the Summer School:
* To Empower Young Africans in Africa and it's Diaspora as stakeholders
and active partner in the process of Africa's Development and Integration
Expected Outcome
* Empowerment and Capacity Building for all delegates
The Summer School would be focused on
building the capacities of Young Africans in Africa and it's Diaspora and
would be an opportunity to bring together Young Africans in Africa and its
Diaspora together to empower each others, train one another and also help
develop one another's skills. The event which would be held at the Africa
Leadership Forum in Ota Nigeria would be declared open by the President of
Nigeria and the Closing Ceremony would be attended by the President of
Malawi and Kenya. We are inviting seasoned trainers and speakers from all
over Africa and its Diaspora and the event would draw together over 400
Young People.
Our last weeklong Leadership Training for the West African
Sub-region in March 2005 was rated excellence and was supported by the
Lagos State Government, British Council, Africa Leadership Forum, Air
France, and AREF.
Nevertheless the 1st International Summer School would
be great as it would not only bring together Young Africans from Africa
and it's Diaspora for the whole week but would also create a platform for
a Strong Partnership between Africa and its Diaspora.
* To create the necessary platform that will enable Young Africans to
fulfill their role in this context and to do so optimally.
* To promote and strengthen intra regional networking and understanding in
youth issues
* To galvanize Young Africans from Africa and its Diaspora as Stakeholder
to work for a Common Strategic Purpose
* To create an avenue for Empowerment and Capacity Building for Young
Africans in Africa and its Diaspora.
* To promote Citizenship Education amongst Young Africans
* To create an opportunity for delegates to meet other Young Leaders from
all over Africa to discuss issues relating to Africa's Development, Share
Ideas, Build their capacities and network with one another
* To help develop and implement a program for African Youth Development,
building on and strengthening existing initiative and encourage the
development of new ones.
* To establish an avenue for Young Africans in Africa and its Diaspora to
engage in the actualization of the MDG's and the NEPAD Framework for
Africa's Development
* More awareness on pressing issues relating to Africa's Development
* Strong Network of Africans in Africa and it's Diaspora
* Paving the platform for effective youth participation for Young Africans
in Africa and the Diaspora
* Preparing Young Africans for the Challenges of Leadership in the 21st
