SUPPORT AFRICA?

A 'SPECIAL PROJECT' SERVING AFRICA

ROUNDABOUT OUTDOOR (PTY) LTD
The Development of Alternative Energy for Pumping Water

The Development of Alternative Energy for Pumping Water

WHO ARE WE?

* We are internationally recognised as one of the most innovative providers of vital community messages and clean water in the world.
* We are winners of the World Bank's Best Innovation Award in 2000, who continues to support us.
* We are partners with the South Africa Department of Water Affairs and Forestry.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

* PlayPumpT water systems are installed at community focal points and schools.

* As children spin on the roundabout, clean water pumps into a 2,500 litre sealed water storage tank. A simple tap makes it easy to draw water.

* One pump can generate up to 1,400 litres of water per hour from a depth of between 40 and100 metres.

* Excess water is diverted from the water tank back down into the borehole.

* Advertising revenue pays for pump maintenance.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

* A children's roundabout that adds fun to the lives of millions who have to endure the hardships of poverty.
* Cost effective, powerful billboard sites in densely populated rural areas.
* Sites are FOCAL POINTS for the community.

WHY ADVERTISE ON THE PLAYPUMPT SYSTEM WATER TOWERS .

* A brand is seen as a pro-active "caring" brand.
* Unique and exclusive advertising on
water system towers.
* Cost effective, powerful billboard sites in densely populated rural areas.
* Consumers buy "Brands". We do not brand these towers, they take on the brand of the billboard.
* Helping to improve and maintain sanitation and hygiene.
* Raising awareness of how to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and other diseases.
* Reducing barriers to education

WHY GET INVOLVED = THE WATER CRISIS

* More than 1.1 billion people worldwide do not have access to clean water. Without action, this number could increase to 2.3 billion by 2025. WHO/UNICEF
* A child dies every 15 seconds from diseases related to unsafe water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene. This results in 6,000 preventable deaths of children every day. Wateraid/ UNICEF
* The average distance a person living in rural Africa must walk to a water source is 5 kilometres. The average 25 litre container of water weighs approximately 25 kilograms.
* Roundabout Outdoor have begun a major expansion into South Africa and other Sub-Saharan countries, with the goal of improving the lives of millions of people through the delivery of PlayPumpT water systems and also to other countries outside of Africa..
* Please join us in helping to bring the sound of children's laughter and the flow of clean, safe water to rural communities in Africa and other countries elsewhere that need it!
