A SPECIAL PROJECT SERVING AFRICA

THE STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS

Strategy becomes ever necessary when it is known or suspected there are
insufficient resources to achieve your goals!

Strategic planning should/must determine:

WHERE are we NOW ...?

WHERE do we intend GOING ...?

WHEN do we intend GOING ...?

HOW LONG is it going to take us to GET THERE ...?

HOW are we going to GET THERE ...?

WILL we KNOW when we THERE?

PETER METCALFE

PETER METCALFE

is available to facilitate this
STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS

ADDRESSING
Strategy; Risk Management; Policy; Formulation; Implementation;
Monitoring (assessment/measurement); Outcomes and more!

HOW ...? :

There are two ways to approach this strategic process!

THE ‘IN-HOUSE’ OPTION

Here you need to be decisive as to ‘what’ is to be ‘strategised’
Is 'it' the core vision of the company
Is 'it' an existing project!
Is 'it' a new project or business venture?

Now you need to appoint a facilitator to guide this process.
(This is where I ‘come in’)

You then need to set aside ‘time’ for this strategic process!
In most cases I need two (2) days to reach a strategic consensus.
Day one is theoretical whilst day two is practical!
A Thursday and Friday or Friday and Saturday works well!

You now need to identify the stakeholders!
You could strategise on your own (with a facilitator on hand to assist)
but on your own the outcome is always somewhat one-sided.
A few key stakeholders present is recommended!
It would be advisable to limit the stakeholders to a maximum of 15. A group this size is manageable!

You now need to decide on a venue!
The number of stakeholders required will or should assist in determining the venue!
An ‘in-house’ strategic session need not be held ‘in-house’.
It is recommended, resources permitting, that the event be held outside of the normal ‘working’ environment.

Now you need to prepare the programme!
This programme needs to remain within the framework of what needs to be strategised,
this to ensure you meet all the objectives and ultimately reach an outcome.

THE ‘GENERIC’ OPTION (Not genetic)

This options must be seen as a training session – guiding participants through the strategic application process.

This process gives the delegates all the tools required to successfully facilitate their own ‘in-house’ strategic sessions.

Here you need to be decisive as to ‘who’ is ‘strategic’?
Is it the board of directors?
Is it the executive (top management)?
Is it everyone above and others?

Now you need to appoint a facilitator to present this strategic training.
(This is where I ‘come in’)

You then need to set aside ‘time’ for this strategic training!
In most cases I need two days to deliver the workshop.
Day one is theoretical whilst day two is a generic practical exercise!
A Thursday and Friday works well – Saturdays do NOT work well here!

Once again it would be advisable to limit the ‘delegates’ to a maximum of 15.
A group this size is manageable.

You then need to decide on a venue!
The number of delegates required will or should determine the venue!
This session may be held ‘in-house’.
However, it is recommended, resources permitting, that the event be held outside of the normal ‘working’ environment.

The rest is up to the facilitator.

We are actively involved with promoting the
AFRICAN RENEWAL PROGRAMME

However -
We firmly believe that sustainable development is a process that must start from within - Africa needs to "partner" with herself first!
We also prefer the phrase: "Lets create wealth" rather than "Lets alleviate poverty"
Our initiatives include enabler 'showcasing'; networking opportunities; business opportunities; investment opportunities; promotion of special projects; dissemination of business information; joint venture initiatives and a range of value added services - all to serve

AFRICA!

We facilitate processes, including networking sessions that would lead to sustainable development, hence our motto:
"Nothing is as ‘powerful’ as the Human Network"

"Sustainable Development is the action and/or act of bringing people and/or processes into position for the effective use in the support and/or delivery of efforts, conducts and the cause!"

All our efforts are privately funded!
