TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL - INVITATION - (ANTI CORRUPTION)
FDA NETWORKING FUNCTION - 24 FEBRUARY 2004
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN AFRICA DEVELOPMENT

TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL - INVITATION
You may recall that we were recently invited (at the OECD Africa Investment Forum in November 2003) to participate in the activities of TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL.

One of our next FDA NETWORKING FUNCTIONS will feature 'CORRUPTION'

We have just received an invitation to attend a discussion on "Kicking Corruption in Africa - What can be done?" presented by Dr Peter Eigen (Chairman: Transparency International, Germany).

The event is hosted by the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) at the SAIIA offices in Jan Smuts House, East Campus, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday, 5 February 2004 at 18:00 for 18:30 (Refreshments will be served at 18:00)

Dr Peter Eigen (Chairman: Transparency International, Germany) founded Transparency International in 1993 as a global "watchdog" organisation dedicated to fighting corruption and its destructive social and economic effects. His experience of corruption in Africa while he was director of the World Bank\'s programme in East Africa convinced him of the need for such an organisation. Today, Transparency International\'s Corruption Perceptions Index is the primary global indicator of levels of corruption in various regions and the organisation has been instrumental in successful anti -corruption initiatives, including the OECD Convention.
