The FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA proudly presents you with the following information that may add value to Africa's development. Please direct any correspondence to: info@isupportafrica.com

2004 - A BRAND NEW YEAR

The promise of an even better year is very evident. The focus on Africa, not-with-standing the world's attention on Iran's tragic disaster, remains a reality with more and more investment opportunities being sought throughout Africa!

How to get back into the "swing of things" is always a daunting task - this email (although somewhat bulky) may assist. We have made significant changes to our websites so please select "refresh" or press "F5" when you have opened our website.

ADDRESSING AFRICA'S CONSTRAINTS
How can we (Africa), as a "New Year Resolution" contribute to Africa's development?

The FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA has "analysed" various conferences, seminars and forums featuring Africa, Nepad, investment and a host of topics surrounding Africa's development. We have prioritised the following issues (or the lack thereof):

* PARTICIPATION
* COMMUNICATION
* CIVIL SOCIETY
* CORRUPTION
* GOOD GOVERNANCE
* AU - AFRICA UNION
* NEPAD - NEPAD PEER REVIEW
* INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
* PPP - PRIVATE PUBLIC PARTNERSHIPS
* CAPACITY BUILDING - SKILLS TRANSFER
* THE IMAGE OF AFRICA
* QUALITY
* ACCESS TO MARKETS
* ACCESS TO FINANCE

We will address each one of these issues over the next few weeks and also present them as topics for our regular FDA Networking Functions.

SUPPORT AFRICA (FDA)
Our website I SUPPORT AFRICA www.isupportafrica.com is ranked number two in the world, this from some 4,500,000 websites, on www.google.com and www.yahoo.com - however our FDA SUPPORTERS PAGE featuring our proud supporters is ranked number four in the world!

NEPAD
* Nepad Business Group (Continental)
The summary of the NBG Conference, held in Sandton, South Africa in December 2003, was released by the organisers Africa@Work - this document makes for some interesting reading and is available on our website:

* Nepad Business Group (South Africa)
We received a copy of the Business Covenants and Declaration on Business in Africa from Mr. Geoff Rothschild (JSE) who is tasked with developing the Nepad Business Group (South Africa). This is currently the only available process of participating in the NBG (South Africa) - see:
Business Covenants and Declaration on Business in Africa

* Democracy Governance Leadership towards an African Renewal
It is seldom one receives a document that provides valued insight on Africa issues. This "must read" 60-page document by Dr. Denis Venter, a political and economic analyst, featuring Democracy Governance Leadership towards an African Renewal has received SPECIAL PROJECTS SERVING AFRICA status and is available on our website - see:
Democracy Governance Leadership towards an African Renewal

* Nepad Forum
The Nepad website has a new section called NEPAD FORUM. This section calls for interaction regarding various issues - could become most useful - see:
NEPAD FORUM

* Nepad Focus - Ukhozi Productions Starting on Monday 5 January 2004 (today), SABC 2 (DSTV Channel 47) will be screening a 26 part series - every Monday at 10H45. This programme will address a number of questions regarding this important initiative.
