TIPS FOR WEBSITES SERVING AFRICA
I have been closely monitoring the Internet growth on WebPages serving Africa over the past few years. This growth has been phenomenal.
Herewith some startling growth figures:
When searching for "business development africa" on www.google.com:
When searching for "support africa" on www.yahoo.com:
Sadly - When searching for "NEPAD" on www.google.com:
I am very proud to proclaim that our FDA websites/pages feature as "number one" for both "business development africa" and "support africa" searches - When searching for "support africa" on www.yahoo.com our websites feature 1; 3 and 6 from 15,700,000 pages.
Herewith some basic tips to help "popularise" your website:
* KISS - Keep it (your website) small and simple (avoid paraphernalia such as pictures and moving objects)
Our websites are proudly hosted, marketed and optimised by HITECH MARKETING - a FDA PARTNER. Gary Terrazas (gary@hitechmarketing.co.za) will gladly assist with all you need to know about optimisation - SEE:
Finally - Please regard the button "F5" as the most important button on your computer keyboard - when searching the "net" you need to "refresh" your computer to ensure you are looking at the "latest downloads" available. All to often the computer will access the "page" stored in your computers "cache" and unless you refresh the system you may be viewing old data - remember F5!
The following press release has just been submitted:
Networking in and for Africa
The Foundation for the Development of Africa (FDA) Networking Functions have created a real platform for the businesspeople of the continent to interact with each other and contribute to the creation of wealth in Africa.
Following the phenomenal success of the FDA Networking Hilton Sandton Happy Hour, these informal networking events are now extending into the rest of South Africa and Africa, with the FDA Networking Hilton Durban Happy Hour launching on Wednesday 15 September and the Pretoria FDA Networking Function at the end of September. October will see the launch of FDA Networking Functions in Rustenburg, South Africa and in Nairobi, Kenya.
Says Sonja Heyl of L.M.A Consulting, one of the FDA networkers: "The last FDA Networking Hilton Sandton Happy Hour was a huge success for me. A big thank you to the FDA. Some 12 companies required assistance from us, which is phenomenal."
The FDA's networking sessions are one of its many activities to promote the development of Africa. A number of interesting business deals have been concluded - and that's what the networking functions are all about.
The FDA's networking motto "Nothing is as powerful as the human network", attests to the old adage - it's not what you know but who you know - and an important part of creating wealth in Africa is creating partnerships among Africans and paving the way for African businesses to trade with and support each other.
The networking functions are open to all businesspeople in Africa, free of charge, and business cards are essential. FDA stickers are provided to identify the FDA Networkers and a table is available for brochures.
The FDA is actively involved with initiating and facilitating business and other processes conducive to Sustainable Development in Africa - with the emphasis on sustainability. These processes include the promotion of NEPAD, networking opportunities, business and investment opportunities, promotion of special projects, dissemination of business information, joint venture initiatives and a range of value added services - all to serve Africa.
Visit the FDA website www.foundation-development-africa.org for more information on the Networking Functions and to see the growing list of people and companies who have pledged their support to Africa's development by simply adding their names to the "I Support Africa" initiative.
