PPP (PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS) VS SERVICE DELIVERY

We have been bombarded with news headlines pertaining to the lack of service delivery at Local Government or Municipal level. A number of reasons for this service decay are forthcoming. However the lack of skills, within Local Government - from Municipal Managers through to Municipal Cleaners - remains a big concern.

Service delivery, or the lack thereof, is not something unique to South Africa (where the people are currently protesting the loudest) the rest of Africa and even first-world countries are faced with this problem.

Could PPP - Public Private Partnerships - impact positively on service delivery?

I have done some extensive research on this issue and will be delivering a paper on the impact of PPP rollouts for local Municipalities, emphasising the control that remains with the municipality, discussing the implications of an MSP (Municipal Service Partnership) and creating investor confidence - as a Municipality.

As mentioned before I will also be chairing this conference on PPP - Public Private Partnerships - that has attracted a host of prominent speakers including: Kogan Pillay; Dr Akin Akinjolire; Jacqueline Burger; André Kruger; Professor Werner Zybrands; Stuart Gray; Leo Rohrig; John Janks; Irvin Phenyane and David Pilling.
