GREETINGS FROM CAPE TOWN
THE 2005 DIGITAL AFRICA SUMMIT
FDA 'HAPPY HOUR' NETWORKING SESSIONS

GREETINGS FROM CAPE TOWN
Greetings from a very active and hot Cape Town!

The city is abuzz with international delegates attending a number of high profiled conferences, indabas and then the opening of the South African parliament on Friday 11 February 2005.

Roads, to be used for the military parade (on Friday), have been closed for practice sessions; traffic is being redirected; usual parking buys are not available and the strong winds, indigenous to this part of the world, assisting or hindering pedestrians trying to cross busy intersections, are factors contributing to this exciting atmosphere of expectation!

The international 'vibe' evident in the Mother City is tangible!

THE 2005 DIGITAL AFRICA SUMMIT
WSO - World Summits Organisation, the organisers of the 2005 Digital Africa conference aptly themed "The Liberalisation of African Telecoms", deserve high praises and acknowledgement for convening a very impressive gathering of delegates from the Telecoms Industry.

The 180 delegates who attended the opening address included some twelve government ministers (from across Africa). While a host of CEO's; COO's; Government Officials and Civil Society - all prominent industry leaders - were all at one with the need for Africa to "LEAP-FROG the BACK-LOG".

The opening address, delivered by Mr. Roy PADAYACHI, Deputy Minister Department of Communications (South Africa) emphasised the theme of the conference while Mr. Sizwe NXASANA, CEO, Telkom South Africa, reminded the delegates on the challenges facing the private sector in Africa.

Thereafter yours truly, Peter METCALFE, presented the delegation with the realities evident in Africa - pleading for a "Let's Walk the Talk"

More detail on this important summit will be published on our website soon!
