INVITATION
FDA FORMAL NETWORKING FUNCTION
TUESDAY 25 JANUARY 2005

You are cordially invited to the FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA's next FDA 'FORMAL' NETWORKING FUNCTION, scheduled for Tuesday 25 January 2005, 18H00 for 18H30. This event will be held at the Hilton Sandton, 138 Rivonia Road, Sandton, South Africa.

The topic for the evening will focus on "MAKING E-MAIL WORK FOR YOUR BUSINESS" and will serve to educate and provide some 'inside' secrets to this essential service.

As technology increases 'new' tools are created to assist us to work faster and smarter, accomplishing more in a day than what has ever been possible. E-mail, short for electronic mail, is one such tool, with many business applications and two important benefits: speed and cost effectiveness.

E-mail is almost instant and can reach just about anyone, anywhere in the world. It is affordable, never costing more than a local phone call, even if the e-mail is sent to multiple recipients. Documents can be sent instantaneously to a location on the other side of the planet, or to the person in the office down the passage.

Businesses can use e-mail to keep in touch with employees and clients, communicate with suppliers and business partners. It can be used to create, maintain and build relationships, internally and externally, locally and internationally.

As with all technology, there are some 'tricks' to learn and some rules to observe. E-mail can be used effectively or illegally - beware!

What is spamming?
How do I know if my email is being read?
When do I send emails?

We intend to answer some and more of these pressing questions!

Our guest speaker is Mr. Kim Nielsen, Technology Specialist, Enterprise and Partner Group, Microsoft South Africa.

Kim has extensive experience in the IT industry working in various roles from Regional IT Site Manager for Microsoft IT responsible for all internal IT services in West, Central, East and South Africa to Technical consultant in Hewlett Packard implementing IT Service Management solutions in the Middle East and to Helpdesk and procurement Management in a large Telco company in Denmark.
