UPCOMING EVENTS SERVING AFRICA

The rest of November 2005 (only 8 working days) features some 46 events taking place.

Our website features the most comprehensive list of UPCOMING EVENTS SERVING AFRICA.

Bizcommunity.com recently reported as follow:
The Exhibition Association of Southern Africa (EXSA) is taking steps to ensure that similar expos are not held too close together. This arose after The Homemakers Expo and newcomer, the Home Show in 2006, were organised only a week apart - generally, there is an unspoken ethical agreement amongst exhibition organisers to avoid this.
Justin Hawes, Chairman of EXSA, comments, "In the long run, having competing shows so close together has a negative effect on exhibitors and visitors to the shows. To combat this, organisers need to communicate with one another. The EXSA organiser's forum offers this platform."
EXSA aims to ensure that exhibition organiser members discuss and cooperate with each other.
Organisers occasionally crowd exhibitions due to the need to secure venue dates; or to compete for visitor attendance and muscle in on a slice of the market share in the relevant sector. While this is not always the case, regardless of the reason, holding exhibitions almost on top of each other is extremely detrimental to the industry as it creates confusion amongst exhibitors and visitors.
The consumer tends to be mystified when marketing campaigns conflict and overlap with both promising the 'biggest' and the 'best' exhibition. The exhibitor loses out as the marketing campaign loses its effect. It is also senseless to dilute the visitor base, as the market becomes saturated.

Hi Peter
What well-timed and lucid words from Justin Hawes.
