FEEDBACK - FDA 'FORMAL' NETWORKING FUNCTION
NEXT FDA NETWORKING FUNCTION - "ACCESS TO FINANCE"
FEEDBACK - FDA 'FORMAL' NETWORKING FUNCTION
Some 183 guests attended our networking function last night - with some very valuable networking following the presentations.
For the first time our event proceeded without the support of a sponsor - with no sponsor the Foundation for the Development of Africa, responsible for the cost , 'capitalised' on the 'opportunity' to proudly present a rather comprehensive summary of what the FDA is all about and our vision for 2005.
Our guest speaker, Mr. Kim NIELSEN, Technology Specialist, Enterprise and Partner Group, Microsoft South Africa made me realise just how far behind we are lagging with latest technology - using technology phrases I have never heard of before - never mind using them!
Staying abreast of the latest technology available is becoming a full time occupation - when do I 'run' my business?
Kim's presentation included:
. History
. Challenges
. Email Etiquette
. Mail@microsoft
. How messaging enables your business
In closing, I briefly shared some useful "tips" emanating from 6 years of communicating via email - some 13,000,000 emails have been disseminated from the FDA since 1999 - these "tips" included:
THE DATABASE
Your most precious asset - When Networking
What 'fields'

Standardisation
SENDING EMAILS
The Email Address - Database Determined

The 'Subject Line"
The Size - Does Size Matter?
The Frequency - How Often?

Anti-Virus Notice
The Timing - When to send?
ADMINISTERING YOUR EMAILS
House Keeping - Filing

The LAW
Act No. 25, 2002 ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS AND TRANSACTIONS ACT, 2002 (English text signed by the President.) (Assented to 31 July 2002.)
I realised the need to present a workshop addressing these issues in more detail - I will be making an announcement soon!
