I SUPPORT AFRICA CAMPAIGN
For some time now (three years) we have been 'promoting' the "I SUPPORT AFRICA CAMPAIGN" - this website, www.isupportafrica.org is currently ranked as number one and three from some 46,400,000 (million) WebPages on www.yahoo.com when searching for "How can I support Africa?"
The objective of this "I SUPPORT AFRICA" campaign is to mobilize the world to 'take hands' in support of Africa and her people. This campaign therefore endeavors to promote opportunities in Africa and to acknowledge those who share our vision in Africa's sustainable development process.
Most importantly this campaign allows the "you and I" of this world to participate in Africa's development!
This campaign allows for the following participatory processes:
One - Add you name to the growing list of names proclaiming 'Yes! - I Support Africa'
Two - To promote business initiatives and job creation - therefore creating prosperity and wealth for our people!
And now - We are now ready to launch the third option - this will enable all to participate and contribute to a project of choice - you will soon be able to access a list of projects from the www.isupportafrica.org website and make a contribution to a project of choice. This contribution is not limited to a financial aid - expertise and know-how - is also needed.
We now need to list these projects. To enable the FDA to 'showcase' these projects on our website you are requested to submit these projects by completing the on-line submission form - see:
http://www.isupportafrica.com/isagen/projects/project_submission_form.htm
If you have a project or know of a project - please complete or forward this email appropriately.

Efforts at enhancing the standard of living in developing countries are guided by the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which set out an ambitious agenda for progress in the areas of poverty reduction, education, gender equality, public health, environmental sustainability and international cooperation. It is clear to most observers that financing the MDGs will rely first and foremost on mobilising private resources, including both domestic capital formation and foreign direct investment (FDI).

Dear Peter,
Thanks for sharing Carol's article with us! It's always great to hear good news from Africa!
Three weeks ago, we organised the 2005 Executive MBA Study Tour for Imperial College London, and I was travelling with 70
executives through SA, most of them had never been here before. We visited 10 top companies, which made a great impression, and also showed
them some touristy things (a game farm, Soweto, Table Mountain, the winelands, etc).
It was amazing how positively surprised everyone was.
Almost everyone stated that the visit exceeded their expectations by far. The feedback we received was absolutely fantastic. And I must say
that I was truly proud of our country!
A great way to change perceptions of Africa!!
Best regards,
Denise

HI ALL.
NEPAD BEING A VISION FOR AFRICA I DON'T KNOW.
HERE IN SWAZILAND WHEN YOU TALK OF NEPAD IT IS LIKE YOU COME FROM MARS.
THE PROBLEM AS AFRICANS IS WE WANT TO PROTECT OUR TURF. ANYBODY THAT COMES WITH AN IDEA SIMILAR TO OURS
IS SEEN AS A THREAT.
CONTRARY TO WHAT EVERYBODY SAYS THE FDA IS I BELIEVE THE BETTER VEHICLE TO DRIVE EMPOWERMENT IN AFRICA. THIS IS BECAUSE THERE NO POLITICAL MASTERS TO ANSWER TO.
NEPAD IS FOR THE ELITE LIKE THE G8. SMALL COUNTRIES WHO HAVE NO REPRESENTATION WILL ALWAYS FIGHT FOR THE CRUMBS. I DO NOT EVEN THINK THE HIERARCHY LIKE EACH OTHER.
AFRICA IS TO DIVIDED AND FOR SOMETHING TO BRIDGE THAT GAP IT WILL TAKE A MIRACLE. EGYPT FOR EXAMPLE IS IN AFRICA BUT THEY REGARD THEMSELVES AS ARABS, ANYTHING TO DO WITH AFRICA THEY DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN BUT THEY SEND IN PEACE KEEPERS INTO THE MIDDLE EAST.
MR METCALFE WHAT YOU MUST KNOW IS THAT WHENEVER SOMEBODY COMES UP WITH AN IDEA THAT HE IS SEEN AS A THREAT THAT IS WHY THE HIERARCHY OF NEPAD WILL SEE YOU AS A THREAT.
WE AS SMALL COUNTRIES NEED TO BE REPRESENTED GLOBALLY AND I BELIEVE THE FDA IS OUR VEHICLE TO A BETTER LIFE.
WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR MUCH ONLY THAT WE WANT TO HAVE CLEAN WATER ELECTRICITY FOOD IN OUR BELLIES AND A ROOF
OVER OUR HEADS IS THAT TO MUCH TO ASK FOR.
I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE COMMENTS FROM OTHER FELLOW MEMBERS BECAUSE IT IS OUR DUTY TO BUILD A BETTER AFRICA FOR THE GENERATIONS TO
COME.
THANK YOU
PETER DUBBER.

Dear Peter,
Thank you for sharing your experiences with the NEDAP Secretariat.
I must say that I tend to know little of NEPAD or its vision probably in part to the issues you raised below, but also due to the inaccessibility
of the initiative to most people. It is seen as a government-level initiative and not something that is 'owned' by the people.
I would like to thank you for your efforts of keeping the programme on the 'People's Agenda.'
Well done. I look forward to further updates along the way.
Kind regards,
Catherine

Yes , I strongly believe that NEPAD becomes an exclusive club for certain people who are known by The Secretariat .
To give an example , I wrote to them expressing my interest to give a paper in a conference to be organised by them and OECD in 25-26 May in Uganda .
I have written many times but they did not even care to reply .
Where do they stand regarding the participation of Africans in the development of Africa .
We wanted to serve our people and contribute towards their development but because we are not within the group therefore there is no chance .

Hello Peter!
I am very inspired by the emails you send me and they add value to my life as an African.
I want to comment on the NEPAD issue.
I think we as South Africans, specifically, we are very office orientated.Whenever people are not
delivering in office we put the blame on the office and not the individual.
The failure of NEPAD's secretariat to answer to the calls of Africans is not institutional but personal.
I would like to state that if the NEPAD secretariat is not perfoming therefore other people must be in office because those that are there now are failing the African continent.
We cannot afford to keep on starting new institutions whereas at policy level we have genious but at functional level we have mediocre.
This is also observed in the proposed merger of Umsobomvu Youth Fund and National Youth Commission.
At policy level both these government institutions are superb but at implimentation level they are failing. We cannot afford to
put the two together because "two wrongs cannot make a right".
Hence my opinion is that we need to relive people of the office in order for the office to serve its purpose.
As Africans we have what it takes to make our continent or break our continent.
Thank you and keep up the good work!!

Peter
Re your NEPAD article below - if indeed the Secretariat employees, from Nkhulu down, have deliberately and consciously blocked (and this is how I
read your report) participation in NEPAD by anyone who is not one of "the Chosen" ("due to the blatant reluctance of the secretariat to allow for
participation"), then each and every one of the Secretariat MUST be fired FORTHWITH by Mbeki, Obasanjo, et al. Otherwise the credibility of Mbeki et
al suffers greatly, and other initiatives are impacted, let alone the NEPAD credibility.
How can Mbeki et al trumpet NEPAD to the UN, EU, USA, etc etc, when it is in fact an un-mitigated disaster to date??
Why do we - the people of Africa - yet again have to put up with this absolute nonsense from mere employees who have been HIRED to serve US??
For "the NEPAD secretariat (to) claim a lack of resources as the main culprit" is specious in the extreme. This claim is a constant and recurring
theme right across Africa (and I work in many African countries). The reason for claiming "lack of resources" is most frequently to obtain "more
resources" (read "cash") so that it can then be "appropriated" into channels other than those for which it may have been intended.
NEPAD's "good governance" thrust for governments is not subscribed to by very many African states - for this very reason.
With kind regards
