The FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA proudly presents you with the following information that may add value to Africa's development. Please direct any correspondence to: info@isupportafrica.com
THE AFRICA TRADE CENTRE
We have received some very interesting comments on the last 'email newsletter' entitled:
"AFRICA . ALL ON HER OWN!"
You may recall I emphasised the importance of Africa needing to stand as one - I wrote:
"We, all of Africa (including NEPAD), need to stand as one and seek solutions within Africa for Africa. We need to accept the fact that 'first world powers' will drop Africa from the development agenda at the 'drop of a hat'. Africa is capable of providing for herself - from within - we just need to coordinate our efforts".
See: http://www.foundation-development-africa.org/fda_newsletter/2006/25_july_2006.htm
The new ATC - AFRICA TRADE CENTRE will provide just this platform!
For many years I had the vision of establishing an AFRICA TRADE CENTRE, where all of Africa's opportunities could be made available within a complex that would provide all the necessary information, regulation, supply chain services and logistics when trading with or within Africa - A 'one-stop' trade shop.
Three years ago a proposal was submitted to Transnet, in South Africa, for 'converting' the Carlton Centre (Johannesburg City Centre) into an AFRICA TRADE CENTRE. This would have been an ideal location due to the available infrastructure. No doubt this project may have added value to the revitalization of the inner city. We received no response.
A local Tshwane (Pretoria) consortium received a mandate from The City of Tshwane (Pretoria) to deliver The Tshwane ICC (International Convention Centre) in Centurion, Pretoria. This development concession, on prime land adjacent to the Centurion business centre, will provide for a 4/5 star hotel complex, the Tshwane ICC and now also the AFRICA TRADE CENTRE.
The complex/precinct will be known as the AFRICA GATEWAY and will have easy access to four airports, some 150 diplomatic representations in The City of Tshwane (Pretoria), the new Gautrain and a host of benefits associated with the vision of The City of Tshwane. The intention is to complete construction by 2010.
This vision is now a reality - Africa and all her people will benefit!

Dear Peter,
I do not think that you will remember me, though I am on your mailing list for three years!! We met at UNISA at the AFrica conference. We sat together during the lecture.
I would now want to congratulate you on having this great venture coming up in Centurion. I am especially glad because now I can attend your meetings since you are near.
As you have said, the vision is now a reality and it will benefit AFrica and all her people. And I am awaiting to see what you are going to achieve with this venture. BUT, in the meantime, I also see the opportunity for people to assist you in Centurion with all kinds of work.
Congratulations once again on this great venture and on your hard work for Africa.
Kind regards,

Thank you very much Peter......... and I thank you once again.......
We are now talking serious business for Africa development.....
Please also let us think about the human development issues... we need to
have Africa University where by we can have the genetically modified
Africans in the areas where we are likely to depend on the western
countries.
Have so many resources waisted to western countries we need to call back
on those resources and we start benefiting from them.
To have a University which has all the workshops (Technology, Car
Manufacturing, Textile Manufacturing, Skin processing and Leather
Manufacturing, Gun Metal Producing, etc) and students can have a proper
work experiences and the products they produce benefit the University and
Africa at large.
It will be better to ask for assistance from the western Countries if we
are going to build on long term sustainable income and development.
Keep up the good work and we are behind you even-though we seem to be
miles away. I love Africa and I will do all the best to help.......

Hi Peter
Thanks for the mail on the ATC.
You may recall that at our first meeting I introduced a project to market SA
manufactured products into the US.
For a number of reasons this initiative did not reach its full potential. Nevertheless, a trade centre for African
products remains a priority project.
At some time I would like to share my thoughts and experiences on a trade centre for Africa.
I feel that I have much to contribute to such an initiative.
Kind regards

Dear Peter:
That is truly awesome news!!
We have had discussions regarding longterm TTT Partnership with 2 groups of SME/development groups within the South
African BEE movement that noted us first on your FDA joint venture project listings. We'll see if this matures into a permanent JV Agreement on their
part, but FDA was a critical intro point.
Hope to meet you sometime soon of my next trip to Africa.
Blessings.

Peter
Congratulations with the great news about the Africa Trade Centre.
Perhaps you should approach the [US] Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), an
institution which represents al die large American companies trading with
Africa. The CCA is a very active organisation and has on-going programmes
to promote mutual trade interests.
Kind regards

Dear Peter,
Wonderful idea. Well done as always.
Please advise if there are plans to have some retail space in this Africa Gateway for showcasing products for which we are looking partners in other African Countries. If so, how much space is being designated and whom do we contact to get more details.

Dear Peter,
Good news indeed! I am sure that by locating your head office within the ATC
you will really raise your profile into the stratosphere!
Just for interest sake, we now have three learning centres in Namibia; have
a signed order for another three in the Niger Delta region and are
finalizing an agreement to install PLATO into four schools in Lagos. So we
too are helping develop Africa.
