Service Delivery and Information Dissemination have become the topics of the decade.

In a paper delivered to the TDPI - Trade, Development and Poverty Reduction Initiatives Conference - held in Geneva, Switzerland, in November 2005, I made the following statement:

'The People (including the Poor)' are entitled to be informed and more importantly encouraged to participate in initiatives or projects launched that may impact on their well-being.

Excluding 'The People (including the Poor)' from participating in (these) initiatives or informing them on (these) issues was possible before the dawn of the information era - the 'you and I' were non-the-wiser. Today information is more readily available, however ensuring that the right information reaches the 'The People (including the Poor)' remains a problem. Withholding information leads to rumors and speculation.'

Judge Willem VAN DER MERWE made a similar statement when delivering his judgment on the rape trial of Mr. Jacob ZUMA.

Business (including governments) Transformation is about implementing strategy and keeping the people informed.

I am chairing a conference on Managing Business Transformation here in South Africa next week and will be delivering a keynote address specifically aimed at Local Government Transformation.
