APOLOGIES
I have to apologise for being somewhat 'out of circulation' lately. We are rather busy with the restructuring and relocation of the Foundation for the Development of Africa, while the ATC - Africa Trade Centre is demanding its pound of flesh.

What I can tell you is that I have been appointed as Chairman of both the FDA - Foundation for the Development of Africa and the newly formed Africa Trade Centre (Pty) Ltd. We have appointed Mr. Wim DU PLESSIS as the new Chief Executive Officer to head-up the FDA and firmly believe this appointment will drive the FDA to new levels of service delivery - more detail on this appointment next week.

CITY DEVELOPMENT WORLD AFRICA 2006
I am proud to announce that I will be chairing day two of the City Development World Africa 2006 conference here in Sandton, South Africa, on 6-9 November 2006.

City Development World Africa 2006 is a rare, prestigious gathering of those who are investing in the future - and those who are planning and building it. Due to high sustained growth within our economy, low interest rates, massive migration from rural areas, inner city regeneration and the 2010 Soccer World Cup, South African cities are exploding. On the rest of the continent, the outlook is much the same. Africa is the fastest urbanizing continent in the world. By 2030, half of its population will be living and working in cities and towns.

The Foundation for the Development of Africa has endorsed this important event.
