HUMAN RESOURCES AFRICA

"One of the biggest challenges facing Human Resources managers is the dire need to reposition human resources' services so that they represent a strategic alliance with the other core business departments within the organisation" Janine NIEUWOUDT, MD, BMT DIMENSIONS (Advisory board member HR Africa)

The lack of skills development is one of Africa's biggest constraints. We have the 'people' resources, we just lack the 'know-how'

The 4th Annual HR Africa Summit is vastly becoming the platform for HR Executives, Practitioners and Directors across Africa to gather and share concerns, challenges and achievements in the HR world. Without a sound understanding of how the business operates, the concerns of stakeholders and how to talk the business language, HR will retain a minor league status in a major league environment.

From 26 - 29 November 2007 a number of prominent speakers including Jaco Grobler - Head - ABSA AFRICA; Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare - CEO - KOMFO ANOKYE TEACHING HOSPITAL KUMASI (KATHKSI) GHANA; Foluso Phillips - Chairman - PHILLIPS CONSULTING NIGERIA; Charles Cofie - CEO - UNILEVER GHANA; Vitus Ezinwa - HR Director - COCA-COLA NIGERIA and EQUATORIAL AFRICA; Dudu Nyamane - HR Director - OLD MUTUAL; Michelle Roborg-Sondergaard - HR Director - KRAFT EUROPE; Cathy Smith - HR Director - IBM SOUTH AFRICA; Adaeze Balogun - HR Director - KPMG NIGERIA; Emmanuel Komla Akoto - Director - O and A CONSULT GHANA; Ingra du Buisson-Narsai - Group HR Director - FAMOUS BRANDS; Sandy Mohonathan - HR Director - MICROSOFT SOUTH AFRICA; Linda Grootboom - Executive Director: HR - WALTER SISULU UNIVERSITY (WSU); Rogany Ramiah - Group HR Director - INDEPENDENT NEWSPAPERS (PTY) LTD; Martin Lewis - Managing Director - RBS; Cathy Smith - HR Director - IBM SOUTH AFRICA; Aaron Mudhuwiwa - HR Director - RIOZIM ........and this is only on day one!

The event will be held at the prestigious Emperors Palace, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, South Africa and is organized by IIR - Institute for International Research BV South Africa.

This year's event will address, in detail, the key elements all HR executives need to circum to, to ensure you are on the right path to achieving HR excellence. The event will be focusing on the 6 major focus areas needed to master to ensure that you are geared towards achieving HR excellence, namely:

* Positioning HR with the business
* HR Governance
* HR's strategic contribution to key business initiatives
* The HR landscape: What does the future of HR look like?
* The HR value chain
* HR measurements: How does HR contributing to the business?

In mastering and adhering to the guidelines offered in each of these themes, you will undoubtedly be equipped with the necessary tools to actively drive your HR department to the strategic level that is required to impact on the business, and drive the business growth both through business-focused initiatives, as well as through the understanding of what the business needs are.

This summit will bring HR Directors and CEO's together to discuss how they, together, can develop the industry blueprint to mapping, aligning and executing strategic HR excellence. It is necessary for HR understand what "keeps their stakeholders awake at night" in order to ensure that you are focusing your efforts more effectively and in line with what the business needs are. The CEO table address and the follow-on HR Directors table address will do just that, open your minds to what CEO's expect from their HR directors and how HR directors can make themselves more a part of the CEO's agenda.

This event has, over the past 3 years, bridged the gap in HR practice across Africa, changed the way HR views itself from transactional to strategic HR and now, will equip you with the tools to align yourself with the business and according to your CEO's vision of success.
