The AFRICA TRADE CENTRE AND THE FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA proudly presents you with the following information that may add value to Africa's development.

LEADERSHIP

In a recent survey 82% of Chief Executives and Managing Directors indicated that the single greatest barrier to their organisation achieving its strategy was the inability of many managers to take on a more strategic view and raise their ability to lead their people. Too many of them were still engrossed in the day-to-day functional aspects instead of driving the business and their teams.

Our FDA Partner, Abelusi Training Network, invites you to take a trip into the future with Paul Bridle, Leadership Methodologist, International Researcher, Author, Inspirational Professional Speaker, Consultant and Facilitator, to gauge how ready your organisation is for tomorrow's world of business.

The world is changing dramatically in more ways than one and we are living at a very interesting point in time. The world is opening up with the emergence of new markets and "globalisation" is the latest buzz word on people's lips. Technology is making the world smaller and making it easier for people to find information but it is also changing the way people communicate, how they make friends and how they buy and consume goods.

It is an exciting time to be in business but there are challenges that we need to understand and be able to rise to if we want to compete in the future. For years we have focused on management but now the time has come to create leadership. Organizations need to understand what leadership means and how it needs to evolve to meet the challenges ahead.

At the same time this is happening we are seeing a new type of employee emerging across the planet. This employee has different values and attitudes to work and life. This generation approach business differently and have a different perception of their manager.

Leaders will need to be bold to take us through this point in history and create a new world. But boldness is a small part of what they will need to be.

Join Paul in Johannesburg (Protea Hotel Balalaika) on 21 August 2008, Pretoria (Premier Hotel Arcadia) on 22 August 2008, Cape Town (Pavilion Conference Centre) on 25 August 2008 and Durban (Riverside Hotel and Spa) on 26 August 2008 as he shares with us how managers can:

        · Define which aspects of a job are functional, management and/or leadership;
        · Allocate the right amount of time to each area to be efficient and effective;
        · Adapt their time to be able to respond to the needs of the business;
        · Create an empowering structure that works for their organisation/team or department;
        · Create systems and processes that people will own and use;
        · Develop an environment where people are capable of taking ownership for their roles and responsibilities.
