THE FDA BACKGROUND
In 1999, Peter METCALFE, a business consultant, conceived the idea to establish a 'club' for all who have a passion for the sustainable development and well being of our continent, Africa.
The original concept of this proposed organisation was to allow "the man/person in the street":
      * contacts in Africa
      * a united voice regarding development issues in Africa
      * to stay informed with these developments.
A very important feature of this ‘club’ would allow for regular business networking.
Hence the phrase now used:

"NOTHING - IS AS 'POWERFUL' AS THE HUMAN NETWORK!"

In August 2000 Peter initiated the establishment of this ‘club’ and submitted ‘invitations’ to his regular contacts. The overwhelming response received from all over Africa confirmed Peter’s vision.

The establishment of THE FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA (NPC) was inevitable.

THE FDA VISION
Enhances the economic and social development of the African continent, which will ultimately shape and lead to the establishment of AFRICAN UNITY - Therefore paving the way for peace, harmony and the well being of all her people!

THE FDA MISSION STATEMENT
To constructively contribute to Africa’s economic and social development by advocating and implementing our sincere objectives.

THE FDA OBJECTIVES
* To advocate the need for sustainable economic and social development in Africa by promoting co-operation between governments, development agencies, investors, developers, visionaries and THE FDA
* To advocate the need for public service delivery that will improve the quality of life, reassure nations and instill public confidence
* To bring people together across geographic and racial divides that they may pool together material and non-material resources
* To encourage, promote, undertake research and co-ordinate relevant matters and joint activities
* To act as a forum for the achievement of common goals
* To give a "voice" to the voiceless poor and marginalised communities
* To act as a platform for the dissemination of information and relevant policies on African development projects
* To comment on, advance or challenge any law, action or policy or any authority or institution affecting the interest of THE FDA
* To develop THE FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA (NPC) into an effective organisation of civil society that can interact with each other and interface with governments on matters of required development.

THE FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA (NPC) is NOT a membership based organisation and participation is FREE and available to anyone, including - NGO’s, Religious, Corporate, Civic, Public and Private Organisations.

THE FOUNDATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA (NPC) provides support (non-financial) and service to any organisation, business and individual that wishes to trade throughout Africa and abide by the following principals:
